Henley Certificate in Facilitation

Facilitation is fast becoming a key organisational capability. Many organisations recognise that skilled facilitators can help groups of people work together more effectively and deliver high quality results - saving time and money.

The Henley Certificate in Facilitation has been designed to meet the needs of those who seek to enhance their skills and professional credibility by gaining a recognised and respected qualification in facilitation from a leading business school.

Participant profile

The Certificate will be of interest to two distinct groups:

Managers and leaders working in an organisational context, who wish to develop their facilitation skills as part of their role, typically those leading and managing organisational change programmes and projects

Individuals who take the specific role of group facilitator and are responsible for facilitating groups workshops either as part of an internal consultancy department or as external consultants working with organisations

Advanced option: experienced facilitators can take the advanced option and start the programme at module 2

Content

The programme is based around three 2-day workshops and a 1-day assessment centre, scheduled over an elapsed period of approximately 6 months.

In addition to the face-to-face modules, participants will be supported by an e-tutor and resources provided in an e-learning environment. The participant will be required to undertake facilitation practice in their organisation during the programme.

Module 1: Practical Facilitation Skills

This will examine the origins of group facilitation, the role of the facilitator, the facilitation process, and different facilitation techniques. There will also be the opportunity to review facilitation competencies and the participant will start to develop an individual competency development plan. This module includes practice facilitation sessions with formative feedback.
practise and improve some of these skills, to receive feedback and develop interpersonal sensitivity.

Module 2: Facilitation Practice Workshops (Four 1-day workshops)

Each workshop will be a combination of content sessions, facilitation exercises and action learning group discussions. The content will be delivered to cover the following list of topics and additional content will be introduced in response to specific requests from participants.

The facilitation topics will include:
