Professional Expertise:
- Dr Sharm Manwani held European IT Director positions at two leading multinationals while obtaining his MBA and Doctorate at Henley. During this period he led a number of international change programmes supporting mergers, restructuring, business process redesign and key account management.
In 2000, he joined the faculty at Henley to research, mentor, and lecture in Information Management. He has presented at a number of academic and business conferences, and consults with major companies on IT Leadership, Information Management and IT-Enabled Business Change.
With regard to professional activities, Sharm is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and is on the Executive Board of the BCS IT Professionalism programme. He is also on the Editorial Board of Computing Business and the Journal of Information Technology Cases.
- Research:
- Prior to joining Henley, Sharm completed his doctoral research into how IT aligns to and delivers business needs at corporate, group and operating unit levels. This has led to international links and the position of VP, Research for the Global IT Management Association. As co-champion of two Knowledge Management initiatives at Henley, he has published papers on Information Overload and KM Technologies.
Sharm is presently conducting primary research into IT Capability & Leadership. Outputs include surveys and case studies on CIO skills and career progression. He has contributed to academic journals winning the Henley Doctoral Research Paper prize and to practitioner publications such as Computer Weekly and Computing Business.
