Professional Expertise:

David moved to Henley in 2000 where he is Director of the School of Growth, Innovation and Enterprise and was previously Lead Tutor in Marketing at the College. Before joining Henley, David was a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at Anglia Polytechnic University. Before joining academia, David had nine years experience in advertising as Account Director and Business Development Director at a number of international Business-to-Business advertising agencies. In these roles he was responsible for a number of international advertising campaigns for companies such as Caterpillar Inc, Perkins Engines, Software Publishing Corp., 3M, Canon Cameras, Atlas Copco, Durox, The Electricity Council, John Deere, Plessey and Shell. David teaches and consults widely for a number of international organisations including UKTI, Microsoft, IBM, Heinz, Audi AG, Vodafone, Virgin Mobile, TDC, and Touchpaper.

Research:

His primary research interests lie in the fields of Technology and Telecommunications and specifically the application and adaptation of consumer behaviour models to new technologies, especially in mobile environments and customer relationships with organisations in these new environments. He also investigates the processes and strategies firms use to become ‘market driving’ rather than ‘market driven’. David is also interested in the role of brand alliances in creating customer value in new technologies and the changing role of marketing communications in an environment shaped by mobile technologies.

Expert opinion:

David is an expert in the areas of Mobile Commerce especially form the perspective of consumer behaviour, advertising and media strategies and also on Marketing Strategies in the IT industry.
